The 2010 Chicago Jazz Festival takes place over the course of 4 days starting Thursday, September 2, 2010 and continuing through Sunday, September 5, 2010 within several locations throughout Chicago's Grant and Millennium Parks with a special 75th Birthday Celebration honoring Chicago's own Ramsey Lewis  taking place on September 3rd at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. 55TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF EMMETT TILL'S DEATH

Today marks the 55 year anniversary of the murder of Emmett Till at the hands of white racists down in Money, Mississippi. Till was shot and beaten to death for allegedly "whistling at a white woman." Emmett Till was just 14 years old at the time of his death. Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam (the main suspects in the murder), were acquitted by a jury of (12 white men) their peers.
Till's badly beaten and shot body was brought back home to Chicago for burial. During the funeral services, Till's mother, Mamie Till-Mobley courageously insisted on an open casket to "show the world" what they did to her child. to view pictures of Emmett Till's funeral go to

EXCLUSIVE: *UPDATE IN THE JENNIFER HUDSON FAMILY MURDER CASE*

William Balfour, the only person charged in the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and Nephew Julian King appeared in court today before judge Mary Roberts (filling in for newly appointed judge of the proceedings, Charles P. Burns). It was revealed during today's proceeding that the deposition of a witness in the case was to take place at 1:00 p.m. today in the jury room of the courthouse and that said deposition was to be videotaped. A continuance was granted "by agreement" of both parties and a status hearing was scheduled for a month from today.



In court observing the proceedings were Michele Davis-Balfour (mother of suspect William), Tyrone Hudson and Gregory King (father of murdered child Julian King).

52ND ANNUAL CHICAGO AIR AND WATER SHOW (AUGUST 14 - 15, 2010)

The 52nd Annual Chicago Air and Water Show begins August 14 - 15, 2010, taking place over the Chicago area lakefront. Among the performers at this year's event will be the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights and the U.S. Navy Parachute Team Leap Frogs. This event can be viewed along the Chicago area's Fullerton to Oak Street lakefront with North Avenue being the focal point and is FREE.

Fantasia Barrino Hospitalized After Overdosing!

It is being reported that American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized after overdosing on pills.  Sources say Fantasia was taken to the hospital by ambulance Monday night. WCNC reports that "doctors" has "classified" it as a "suicide attempt."

William Balfour, the only person charged in the murder of Jennifer Hudson's family appeared in court yesterday, August 2, 2010 before a new judge. Judge Lawrence Fox who previously presided over the proceedings has retired. Cook County Criminal Court Judge Charles P. Burns has been appointed new judge of the proceedings. A continuance was granted "by agreement" of both parties.
