Contrary to previous reports, Jokes & Notes located in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood in Chicago was NOT damaged in yesterday's fire. According to a voice message left on the business answering machine, Jokes & Notes located at 4641 S. King Drive is open for business as usual.

FIRE DESTROYS 47TH STREET MARKETPLACE IN CHICAGO
A fire has destroyed the 47th Street Marketplace building located at 47th and King Drive in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood. Among the businesses damaged and or destroyed in the fire are:
- Jokes and Notes Comedy Club
- Blue 47 Restaurant
- Steelelife Art Gallery
- Health Care Center
- The Jamaican Consulate
- Spoken Word Cafe
- Afrocentric Bookstore
2010 CITY OF CHICAGO FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION MOVED FROM GRANT PARK
The city of Chicago Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration has been moved from the Grant Park Taste of Chicago festivities. The fireworks display had been apart of the city's Fourth of July celebration since 1975 taking place on July 3rd during the Taste of Chicago Food and Music Festival. The fireworks festivities will continue however, taking place simultaneously over three locations. You can watch the Chicago Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration this year at Navy Pier, Montrose Avenue and 63rd Street Beaches.
