William Balfour (the only person charged in the murder of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew), appeared in court today before presiding judge Charles Burns. The prosecution informed the judge that they were ready for trial and have been continuing to collect evidence throughout the preliminary proceedings.
Defense attorneys (public defenders), Amy Thompson and Cynthia Brown informed the court that they will be filing "death penalty" pretrial motions and need additional time to subpoena an uncooperative witness.
A continuance was granted "by agreement" of both parties.
